“Tonight, I just thought I was ready to shoot everything,” the 20-year-old Teravainen said. Jets forward Mathieu Perreault left the ice gingerly with 9.4 seconds left in the second period after being cross-checked across the back by Chicago’s Daniel Carcillo, and didn’t return. Perreault, who scored four goals against Florida on Tuesday, had six goals and three assists in his last five games. The Blackhawks dominated early in an uptempo, physical first period punctuated by two free-swinging fights. Saad opened the scoring just 53 seconds in when he backhanded a rolling puck from the left circle, and the rising shot slipped past Hutchinson’s right elbow. The Jets came on as the period progressed and tested Crawford with some prime chances. Bogosian tied it at 1 midway through the first on a low screened shot from inside the blue line after taking a feed from Ladd. Winnipeg’s Adam Lowry was in front of the crease as the puck slipped under Crawford’s pads. Following a scoreless and scrappy second period, the Jets came out strong in early in the third. Little’s power-play goal, set up by Bogosian’s slick pass, put the Jets ahead 2-1 at 9:31 of the third. Thorburn, at the edge of the crease, tipped in Lowry’s feed from the top of the slot 28 seconds later. source: http://tristate-media.com/drr/nhl-jets-defeat-blackhawks—behind-rd-period-rally/article_ae91f9d0-9e2a-11e4-925f-bbef622c955e.html

This will be its third of eight straight road games, five of those coming after the All-Star break starting Jan. 27 against Philadelphia. Coach Dave Tippett was pleased with his club’s effort against the Jets despite the loss, as Lauri Korpikoski and Tobias Rieder scored in the final seven minutes of the third to force overtime. Mike Smith, who has struggled to a 3.43 goals-against average and .887 save percentage, made 27 saves in an overall solid effort. “We hung around all game,” Tippett said. “(Smith) gave us a good game, and we found a way to keep chugging in the third. Give our guys a ton of credit. I like the way we hung around the game.” Keith Yandle, who had a goal and an assist in the most recent meeting with Chicago, recorded an assist for the third straight game. Shane Doan returned after missing the previous two with a lower-body injury and had two assists. ”To tie it up in the third and to get points shows a lot of will and fight in our team,” Yandle said. Perreault immediately fell to the ice. He held his left arm as he departed for the locker room and did not return to the game. He was scheduled to be examined Saturday. Carcillo said Saturday his intent was not injure Perreault and hoped the Jets player would be OK. “I was just trying to knock him off, you know?” said Carcillo, who hadn’t heard from the NHL prior to speaking to the media Saturday. “I didn’t think it was very, like, malicious or anything. “It was just kind of a hockey play and it was at the end of a shift. I must have just caught him between some padding. I’ve been hit there before, too. You know it hurts.” Jets coach Paul Maurice had a different opinion of the play. source: http://espn.go.com/chicago/nhl/story/_/id/12185159/daniel-carcillo-chicago-blackhawks-offered-person-hearing-crosscheck-mathieu-perreault-winnipeg-jets
