NHL 2015 All-Stars announced; who was snubbed? | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports

They finished the first half 14-1-0 when leading after one period and 14-0-0 when leading after two, and those numbers improved against the Wild because of Corey Crawford. Crawford made 42 saves in easily his best of eight games since returning from a lower-body injury. Prior to the injury, he was 12-5-1 with a 1.87 goals-against average. Since, he’s 4-3-1 with a 2.98 GAA, so there’s still work to do, but his value was recognized against the Wild. “That was a goalie win,” Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. “They were the better team tonight, for sure, and we dodged a bullet.” Crawford is 3-0-0 with a 1.59 GAA in his last four games against the Oilers. Chicago’s five straight wins in the series have come by a 26-10 total, including a 7-1 win in Edmonton on Nov. 22 to begin the season series. Kane has nine points in those wins and 23 on a 13-game point streak in the series. Edmonton (9-23-9) should be well rested after last playing in Tuesday’s 4-2 home loss to Detroit. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/blackhawks-oilers-preview-151738248–nhl.html

Roy leads Oilers past Blackhawks 5-2

* Patrick Kane has a 13-game point streak against the Oilers with eight goals and 15 assists during the run. Kanes streak vs. Edmonton is the fifth longest active streak by a player vs. any NHL team. Sidney Crosbys 19-game streak against the Sabres is currently the longest. * Chicagos 4-2 road win over the Wild on Thursday marked the first time they scored the first goal in a game since December 21 against Toronto, a span of six games. * Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins are tri-leaders in points for the Oilers with 25. The only NHL teams that have team leaders with fewer points are the Panthers (Nick Bjugstad 24) and the Sabres (Tyler Ennis 24). * Ben Scrivens has stared nine out of the Oilers last 11 games, posting a 2-0-2 record in his last four starts, including his last win against the Islanders where he made 31 saves. In his last five games, he has posted a save percentage of .933 and a GAA of 1.99. source: http://wgntv.com/2015/01/09/blackhawks-game-notes-for-friday-edmonton/

Palat plays a defensive role on his line, helping gain possession of the puck and spring Johnson and Nikita Kucherov offensively. They have been the best line in the league. While Johnson is fifth in scoring, Kucherov is 11th. Johnson and Kucherov are tied for the league lead at plus-26. Palat is plus-22. Pavel Datsyuk , Detroit Red Wings: Datsyuk has won the Selke three times, and when healthy, he is still elite at age 36. Not only does he have 14 goals and 30 points in 30 games this season, he is still coming back hard, lifting sticks and swiping pucks. He is maybe the only player in the league youd pay just to watch backcheck. Honorable mentions: Patrice Bergeron, Boston Bruins; Anze Kopitar, Los Angeles Kings. NHL Midseason Awards: Trophy picks, runners-up & honorable mentions – Yahoo Sports

The Panthers

Here they are; keep in mind every team needed a representative, the NHL values stardom over achievement, and someone had to make it from the Hurricanes. Forwards Tanner Pearson, Los Angeles Kings Filip Forsberg, Nashville Predators Jonathan Drouin , Tampa Bay Lightning *** The 2015 NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, to divide the All-Stars and Rookies into two teams (8:00 p.m. ET, NBCSN, SN, TVA Sports). Captains for each squad will be announced next week. The highest-scoring player not to make the cut is Nikita Kucherov of the Lightning, but his linemate Johnson is an all-star. James van Riemsdyk (40 points) stays home, as Kessel makes the game. Jiri Hudler should have made the game based on achievement, but hey, gotta throw the Oilers that bone. A case could be made for either Nicklas Backstrom or John Carlson from the Capitals; but again, Ottawa and Carolina need their all-stars, too. Wonder if it came down to Howard or Jaroslav Halak at the goalie spot? As for Patrik Elias er uh hmmmm *coughs* maybe Jagr saw those new all-star sweaters and was like “uh no…”? (Actually, Jagr put it out there he wasn’t crazy about being an all-star this season. Did the NHL extend the same courtesy to other older players?) Sorta crazy to think about an NHL All-Star Game that wont feature a forward from the San Jose Sharks, either Pavel Datsyuk or Henrik Zetterberg, either Daniel or Henrik Sedin or P.K.
