NHL 2015 All-Stars announced; who was snubbed? | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports

Since, he’s 4-3-1 with a 2.98 GAA, so there’s still work to do, but his value was recognized against the Wild. “That was a goalie win,” Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. “They were the better team tonight, for sure, and we dodged a bullet.” Crawford is 3-0-0 with a 1.59 GAA in his last four games against the Oilers. Chicago’s five straight wins in the series have come by a 26-10 total, including a 7-1 win in Edmonton on Nov. 22 to begin the season series. Kane has nine points in those wins and 23 on a 13-game point streak in the series. Edmonton (9-23-9) should be well rested after last playing in Tuesday’s 4-2 home loss to Detroit. Jordan Eberle scored twice and has four goals and an assist in four games. It lost the game on the penalty kill, where it was 3 for 6 and is 5 for 10 in the last two games. Chicago is 6 of 23 (26.1 percent) on the power play over six games. The Oilers are 0-4-5 against the Central and are trying to join the rest of the NHL with a double-digit win total on the third date of a four-game homestand. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/blackhawks-oilers-preview-151738248–nhl.html

James van Riemsdyk (40 points) stays home, as Kessel makes the game. Jiri Hudler should have made the game based on achievement, but hey, gotta throw the Oilers that bone. A case could be made for either Nicklas Backstrom or John Carlson from the Capitals; but again, Ottawa and Carolina need their all-stars, too. Wonder if it came down to Howard or Jaroslav Halak at the goalie spot? As for Patrik Elias er uh hmmmm *coughs* maybe Jagr saw those new all-star sweaters and was like “uh no…”? (Actually, Jagr put it out there he wasn’t crazy about being an all-star this season. Did the NHL extend the same courtesy to other older players?) Sorta crazy to think about an NHL All-Star Game that wont feature a forward from the San Jose Sharks, either Pavel Datsyuk or Henrik Zetterberg, either Daniel or Henrik Sedin or P.K. Subban. And while its completely understandable given his first half no Zdeno Chara in the all-star game or the skills competition means no Zdeno Chara in the hardest shot competition. Well, congrats Weber. Or something. But hey, at least Jonathan “2 goals in 33 games and a squadared chance at the Calder” Drouin made the cut. The NHL All-Star Skills Competition, one of the single most entertaining evenings of this or any season, is scheduled for Saturday Jan. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/nhl-2015-all-stars-announced–who-was-snubbed-233642200.html

NHL Midseason Awards: Trophy picks, runners-up & honorable mentions – Yahoo Sports

The Panthers

He has the best 5-on-5 save percentage (.944) among goalies who have played at least 18 games. Having Rinne in net has allowed Laviolette to be more aggressive offensively. Runners-up: Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks : The Ducks are right behind the Predators, and Getzlaf has had to shoulder the load even more than usual because of illness and injury. He leads the team in scoring by 16 points. Tyler Seguin, Dallas Stars : The Stars have been one of the biggest disappointments in the NHL. It hasnt been Seguins fault. He ranks first in the league in goals with 26 and second in points with 47. He leads the Stars in scoring by 12 points. If he propels them into the playoffs in the second half, he could end up winning the Hart. Roberto Luongo has pushed the Panthers into the playoff race. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nhl-midseason-awards–trophy-picks-at-the-half–with-runners-up—honorable-mentions-212556681-nhl.html
