Blackhawks Game Notes For Friday @ Edmonton | WGN-TV

Johnny Gaudreau, Calgary Flames 3. Aaron Ekblad, Florida Panthers I really, really love watching Johnny Gaudreau play. I guarantee you he will score 30-plus goals multiple times in his career. It was difficultnotto put him as No. 1, but Forsbergs success cant be denied. Ekblad is one of the many reasons the Florida Panthers are exciting to watch. If he keeps this kind of play up, hell be a darling to Norris voters for years to comeoh wait. Hes in Florida. Never mind. ADAMS 1. Willie Desjardins, Vancouver Canucks 2. Gerard Gallant, Florida Panthers 3. source:–yahoo-sports-picks-the-winners-181000199.html

5 Bold Predictions for the Chicago Blackhawks in the New Year | Bleacher Report

The Blackhawks were fourth in that category last year and first in 2013 when they ended up winning the Stanley Cup. The Blackhawks simply have too much talent and firepower to finish the season behind teams like the Predators, Rangers and Habs, all clubs that don’t have the same kind of scoring ability. Look for the Blackhawks to finish no worse than second in that category as they battle Steven Stamkos and the Lightning for the title of most prolific five-on-five team in the league this season. The Blackhawks Will Hoist the Stanley Cup in June Elise Amendola/Associated Press Last year’s loss to the Los Angeles Kings still hurts. The Blackhawks were one goal away from going back to the Stanley Cup Final and defending the title they earned in 2013 in a brutal and memorable confrontation with the Boston Bruins . But when Alec Martinez’s long wrist shot deflected past Corey Crawford and into the net, the Blackhawks were denied that opportunity. They had to watch the Kings instead, who dominated the Rangers in the Stanley Cup Final and won hockey’s ultimate prize in a five-game series. That almost certainly would have been the same result if the Blackhawks had squared off against New York. This time, there will be no denying the Blackhawks. The pain of losing in the seventh game of the Western Conference Final will serve as the impetus to their success, and they will get back to the Cup Final. source:

NHL Awards at the midpoint: Yahoo Sports picks the winners | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports

Jan 1, 2015; Washington, DC, USA; Chicago Blackhawks left wing Brandon Saad (20) battles for the puck with Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson...

They finished the first half 14-1-0 when leading after one period and 14-0-0 when leading after two, and those numbers improved against the Wild because of Corey Crawford. Crawford made 42 saves in easily his best of eight games since returning from a lower-body injury. Prior to the injury, he was 12-5-1 with a 1.87 goals-against average. Since, he’s 4-3-1 with a 2.98 GAA, so there’s still work to do, but his value was recognized against the Wild. “That was a goalie win,” Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. “They were the better team tonight, for sure, and we dodged a bullet.” Crawford is 3-0-0 with a 1.59 GAA in his last four games against the Oilers. Chicago’s five straight wins in the series have come by a 26-10 total, including a 7-1 win in Edmonton on Nov. 22 to begin the season series. Kane has nine points in those wins and 23 on a 13-game point streak in the series. Edmonton (9-23-9) should be well rested after last playing in Tuesday’s 4-2 home loss to Detroit. Jordan Eberle scored twice and has four goals and an assist in four games. source:–nhl.html
