Blackhawks forwards Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook, and goalie Corey Crawford earned spots Saturday based on fan voting. Being down 2-0 quick like that changes the whole way the game is going to be played from there on out. We did generate a lot of shots on net. The second and third opportunities are where we needed to capitalize.” Chicago now heads out on the road, where it’s dropped three of four. “You worry about your next game and next shift as a player,” coach Joel Quenneville said. “That’s your objective to bring the focus, bring the motivation of doing the right things and that’s what it’s all about.” The Blackhawks haven’t visited the Twin Cities since eliminating the Wild with a 2-1 overtime victory in Game 6 of last year’s Western Conference semifinals. Chicago took this season’s first meeting 5-3 on Dec. 16 as Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Brent Seabrook each recorded a goal and two assists. The Blackhawks have taken three straight and 13 of 19 matchups, including playoffs. Kane has four goals and four assists during a five-game point streak in the series, giving him 21 points in his last 21 regular-season meetings. Minnesota (18-15-5) has managed 26 goals during a 2-4-4 slump. The Wild suffered a 7-1 loss at Dallas on Saturday before falling 4-3 in overtime to San Jose on Tuesday, their fourth OT defeat – all coming in the past nine contests – and fifth loss overall in six home games. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/blackhawks-wild-preview-235401714–nhl.html

more > By – Associated Press – Thursday, January 8, 2015 ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Corey Crawford may have stolen two points for the Chicago Blackhawks with an impressive performance. Crawford made a season-high 42 saves, Bryan Bickell scored twice in the third period and the Blackhawks held on to beat the heavy-hearted Minnesota Wild 4-2 on Thursday night. That was a goalie win, Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. They were the better team tonight, for sure, and we dodged a bullet. Patrick Sharp and Patrick Kane also scored for Chicago, which has won four of six. The Blackhawks remained two points behind Nashville in the Central Division. Jason Zucker and Jason Pominville scored for Minnesota, which has lost nine of 11. We were short. Thats the bottom line, Wild captain Mikko Koivu said. But I thought we had a good 60-minute effort from everyone, from the whole team, and thats what were going to need to get out of this. Facing a hot goaltender wouldnt hurt, either. source: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jan/8/bickell-scores-2-goals-blackhawks-hold-off-wild-4-/?utm_source=RSS_Feed&utm_medium=RSS

When he has a poor performance, he is able to put that game behind him and move on to the next assignment. That was vital for him during the Blackhawks’ 2013 Stanley Cup run, and it remains a key attribute. He’ll continue his dip in the regular season, but he will pick up his play when it matters most. Patrick Kane Will Set a Career High in Goals Scored Kathy Kmonicek/Associated Press Patrick Kane is one of the most exciting players in the NHL and one of its best clutch scorers. He has proved this time and time again in the postseason and will no doubt play a key role again if the Blackhawks are to make another Stanley Cup run this spring. However, Kane’s accomplishments in the regular season have been quite modest. No. 88 has never scored more than 30 goals, and he has only accomplished that feat once, during the 2009-10 season. Since then, he has never had more than 29 goals. Kane has already scored 19 goals in his first 40 games. If he can maintain his pace, he will blow by his career high during the second half of the year. source: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2323232-5-bold-predictions-for-the-chicago-blackhawks-in-the-new-year

Since, he’s 4-3-1 with a 2.98 GAA, so there’s still work to do, but his value was recognized against the Wild. “That was a goalie win,” Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. “They were the better team tonight, for sure, and we dodged a bullet.” Crawford is 3-0-0 with a 1.59 GAA in his last four games against the Oilers. Chicago’s five straight wins in the series have come by a 26-10 total, including a 7-1 win in Edmonton on Nov. 22 to begin the season series. Kane has nine points in those wins and 23 on a 13-game point streak in the series. Edmonton (9-23-9) should be well rested after last playing in Tuesday’s 4-2 home loss to Detroit. Jordan Eberle scored twice and has four goals and an assist in four games. It lost the game on the penalty kill, where it was 3 for 6 and is 5 for 10 in the last two games. Chicago is 6 of 23 (26.1 percent) on the power play over six games. The Oilers are 0-4-5 against the Central and are trying to join the rest of the NHL with a double-digit win total on the third date of a four-game homestand. source: http://www.foxsports.com/nhl/story/blackhawks-oilers-preview-010915
