We have a number of guys who want to score that goal and a good team system that allows us to get those chances.” Teuvo Teravainen, the Blackhawks’ top prospect, made his season-debut Sunday and will play again Tuesday. The 20-year-old winger has played in four career NHL games and has yet to record a point, but had three shots against the Stars. “That’s the mindset he’s got to have: want the puck and be in position offensively and defensively to be around the puck,” coach Joel Quenneville said. “That was a good start for him, and (Tuesday) we’ll see how he does.” Corey Crawford will start for the third time against Colorado (15-16-8) this season as he looks to bounce back after posting a 3.56 goals-against average over his last three starts. Colorado, playing its only road contest in a six-game stretch, fell 4-3 to Columbus on Sunday after beating Philadelphia and Edmonton in its previous two. Still, the struggling Avalanche seem pleased with their recently improved play. “We played very well in the third period. We had a lot of chances to score. We just didn’t score,” Semyon Varlamov, who allowed the game-winning goal with just over one minute remaining, told the Avalanche’s official website. “That goal at the end of the game, that was bad luck.” Varlamov posted a 4-0-0 record and 1.59 GAA against Chicago in 2013-14, but he has a 3.63 GAA in 10 road starts this season and did not play in either previous meeting with the Blackhawks. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/avalanche-blackhawks-preview-055330151–nhl.html

Avalanche-Blackhawks Preview – Yahoo Sports

Saad muscled to the net, fought off Stars defenseman Trevor Daly and directed in Jonathan Toews’ centering pass 1:15 later to tie it at 1. Defensive breakdowns lead to a scoring flurry early in the second. Jordie Benn, a defenseman, trailed into the slot and scored his first goal of the season 2:15 into the period to complete a slick three-way passing play with Cole and Ales Hemsky to put Dallas ahead 2-1. No Blackhawks forwards backchecked on the Stars’ rush. Kane tied it at 2 at 3:58 to finish a 2-on-1 with Sharp, who created the odd-man break when he blew around Jordie Benn at the Dallas blue line. Cole restored the Stars’ lead at 3-2 just 45 seconds later when he was left wide open at the side of the net and lifted in a high shot. Bickell’s power-play tip-in with 1:55 left in the second tied it 3-all. Cole’s second goal of the game, on a mid-air deflection of Goligoski’s floating feed from the left point 4:05 into the third period, put Dallas back ahead, 4-3. NOTES: Versteeg has nine goals and 18 assists in 34 games after fully recovering from knee surgery in March 2013. He missed the first four games of this season with an unrelated lower-body injury. . source: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/bruins_nhl/nhl_coverage/2015/01/blackhawks_win_5_4_in_ot_end_stars_4_game_streak
