15, 2014, file photo, Buffalo Sabres center Zemgus Girgensons (28), of Latvia, s BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — It’s Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons and the Chicago Blackhawks leading the NHL All-Star Game fan vote with a little over a week left. The Latvian-born Girgensons still leads all players with nearly 1.3 million votes, the NHL announced Tuesday. The other five eligible spots to be selected are held by Blackhawks. Chicago’s Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are second and third among forwards. Chicago’s Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook lead defensemen, and Corey Crawford leads goalies. Girgensons is the surprise leader thanks to Latvian-based voters, who account for about 80 percent of the second-year player’s total. The only limit on voting is fans can use the same device no more than 10 times a day. Voting closes on Jan. 1, and the game played at Columbus on Jan. 25. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sabres-girgensons-5-blackhawks-lead-star-vote-201856897–nhl.html

NHL schedule 2014: Canadiens vs. Islanders highlights a loaded 11-game slate – SBNation.com

Duncan Keith, who was perhaps the player closest to Reif, said: “It was tough. To lose a close friend and have to try to play a hockey game on that same day, it wasn’t easy.” From CSN Chicago: “It’s tough to describe,” (Jonathan) Toews said, pausing between each sentence. “I think a lot of people, whether guys in this locker room or anyone else, other athletes, who have lost someone close to them and have to find ways to get their minds together and go out there any play as a team … It’s really tough to describe, something that still hasn’t sunk in for most of us yet. But we were definitely playing with heavy hearts out there. “We’re still in disbelief. The fact we went out there and played the way we did, we dedicated that one to our good friend Clint.” Below are tweets from former Blackhawks members on Reif: Just terrible to hear about the passing of Clint Reif. One of the best guys I’ve met through hockey. RIP my friend. #veryfaast Viktor Stalberg (@VStalberg) December 21, 2014 Thoughts and prayers with the Reif family. Such a wonderful person to b around. Brian Campbell (@bcampbell_51) December 21, 2014 Rest in peace Clint. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/blackhawks-assistant-equipment-manager-passes-away-sunday-morning-225437738.html
