Blackhawks send Morin to Blue Jackets for Erixon – Washington Times

“You want to have a full 60 (minute game) but it’s good to finish too.” Saad has four goals and three assists during a seven-game point streak at home, where the Blackhawks are 10-3-1 and have allowed more than two goals twice this season. Chicago outscored Minnesota 11-4 while winning all three home contests in its six-game victory in last season’s Western Conference semifinals. Though that home success allowed the Blackhawks to eliminate the Wild from the playoffs for the second straight year, Minnesota (16-11-1) has gone 2-1-1 in its last four regular-season games at the United Center. The Wild scored twice on three power-play chances in Saturday’s 4-3 shootout victory at Arizona. Minnesota was 1 for 44 on the road with the man advantage prior to the goals from Nino Niederreiter and Zach Parise . ”I thought we had some pretty good extended shifts,” said Parise, whose 11th goal tied the game in the third. ”They didn’t give us a lot of room through the neutral zone, and for us to come back and find a way to win was important just for the way things have been going for us lately.” Minnesota is 5-2-0 on the road since dropping six of its first eight. “We can’t accept anything close and we were close for 55 minutes and we found a way to come back and win the game,” coach Mike Yeo told the NHL’s official website. “That’s a big credit to the boys.” Niederreiter has recorded four of his team-leading 13 goals and an assist in his last six road contests. Including the postseason, however, he’s gone four straight games without a point at Chicago. Parise has five goals and six assists in his last 10 contests, though he’s totaled two points in his past nine regular season and playoff road games against the Blackhawks. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/wild-blackhawks-preview-162050122–nhl.html

Chicago Blackhawks trade Jeremy Morin to Columbus Blue Jackets for Tim Erixon – ESPN Chicago

He had not played for the Blackhawks since Nov. 20 and had been a healthy scratch in eight consecutive games. He had zero points in 15 games for the Blackhawks this season. Morin, who was once considered one of the Blackhawks’ top offensive prospects, was expected to play a larger role this season, but never won over Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville. Morin averaged 7:44 of ice time this season. He signed a two-year contract extension with the Blackhawks in June. Erixon, 23, has one goal, five assists and is a minus-3 in 19 games for the Blue Jackets this season. He has averaged 16:58 of ice time. He has one goal, 12 assists and is a plus-1 in 70 career NHL games. Chicago Blackhawks trade Jeremy Morin to Columbus Blue Jackets for Tim Erixon | FOX Sports

It appears he got his wish. Morin had struggled to find his way in the Blackhawks lineup and never seemed to gain the trust of head coach Joel Quenneville. He had zero points in 15 games this season, which led to a lot of healthy scratches and he was later sent to the AHL on a conditioning assignment. All of those factors, plus the ultimatum, made a big dent in the once-promising prospect’s trade value. The 23-year-old, who was a second-round selection of the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and acquired by Chicago in the trade for Dustin Byfuglien , has been a victim of trying to find a spot on a star-laden team. Though Morin has seen stints in five seasons, he’s never played more than 24 games in a single campaign. That came last season, during which he registered 11 points. Despite the lack of NHL work, Morin has been extremely productive at the AHL level. Last season, Morin had 47 points in 47 games. He had 30 goals for the Rockford IceHogs in 2012-13 as well. Morin was given the best opportunity to seize a full-time role this season with the Blackhawks, but wasn’t able to take advantage. He should get another chance at significant NHL time for an injury-riddled Blue Jackets club. source: http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24887001/blackhawks-trade-jeremy-morin-to-blue-jackets-for-tim-erixon

Morin has no points in 15 NHL games this season. The winger was assigned to Rockford of the AHL for a conditioning assignment Tuesday because he wasnt playing at all with the loaded Blackhawks. Its a good chance for Mo to play and for Timmy to join our organization, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said before Sunday nights game against Calgary. NHL scores 2014: Maple Leafs surge past Kings, Blackhawks put out Flames – SBNation.com

Large_sb_nation_final

In a sure sign that regression is starting to set in hard for Calgary, the Flames were unable to get anything going against the Blackhawks’ backup netminder in a 2-1 loss. The evening finished up in Edmonton, where two teams apparently played hockey until one of them won. Or at least that’s what we heard, we fell asleep watching the most boring game of the season. All the NHL Scores Toronto Maple Leafs 4, Los Angeles Kings 3 (SO) Chicago Blackhawks 2, Calgary Flames 1 New York Rangers 1, Edmonton Oilers 0 Three things we learned 1.The Rangers and Oilers combined for one of the most uneventful games this season. The two clubs totaled just 25 shots through two periods, and the few legitimate scoring chances created were fairly tame. This is really a credit to Edmonton — New York had just come off a 5-1 win in Vancouver Saturday, so the fact the Oilers were able to slow them down to a crawl and keep them within arm’s length should not go unpraised. 2.The Flames are regressing right on schedule. With a fantastic start led by an unsustainable 104.6 PDO in late October, we all knew the Flames would regress. The only question was when it would start. It appears the answer to that question was “before Christmas.” After losing in Chicago the Flames have dropped five in a row and are regressing hard. 3. source: http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2014/12/15/7392745/2014-nhl-scores-leafs-kings-blackhawks-flames-oilers-rangers
