Blackhawks-Islanders Preview – Yahoo Sports

ET. The Blackhawks are rolling as they enter the game on a seven-game win streak. Chicago hasn’t exactly been feasting on lesser-thans during the streak either. Chicago has wins against Montreal, Nashville, St. Louis, Anaheim, and Los Angeles in that time, and now the team faces a Bruins squad coming off a 5-2 win against Arizona on Saturday. Even counting Saturday’s victory, however, Boston has lost five of the past seven games. The team is looking to get things right and may have David Krejci back against Chicago. With Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane , and Marian Hossa to wrangle as well as recently returned Patrick Sharp , at least the Bruins have Tuukka Rask . Elsewhere, the Columbus Blue Jackets take their four-game winning streak into Washington to face Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals at 7 p.m. Columbus has gotten great play from Sergei Bobrovsky and has a host of different forwards scoring goals. source: http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2014/12/11/7375175/2014-nhl-schedule-blackhawks-bruins-tv-schedule

“We like him; he looks big in the net, finds pucks, takes up a lot of space.” New York’s Jaroslav Halak allowed 14 goals during a club-record 11-game winning streak but has since yielded 11 in two starts – both against St. Louis, his former team. Halak, who has been dealing with an upper-body injury, also was shaken up during Thursday’s 6-3 loss to the Blues and his status is uncertain. The Islanders (19-10-0) allowed an average of 1.9 goals while winning 13 of 15, but have yielded 17 in following that stretch with three consecutive defeats. “It’s back to work Saturday as we try to work ourselves out of what we are in,” forward Brock Nelson told the Islanders’ official website. Defenseman Nick Leddy makes his first appearance against the Blackhawks, who traded him to New York prior to the season to clear salary cap space. A solid presence the past three seasons for Chicago, Leddy has been a strong two-way asset with 14 points for the Islanders but posted a minus-3 rating in the last two games. The Islanders, whose seven-game home winning streak ended with a 6-4 defeat to St. Louis last Saturday, have not dropped consecutive games at Nassau Coliseum this season. Chicago’s four-game winning streak against New York ended with a 3-2 overtime road loss Jan. 2. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/blackhawks-islanders-preview-183227584–nhl.html

Just because a penalized player injured an opponent and Toews status is still being determined, as the Blackhawks arent skating on Friday doesnt automatically mean the player deserves a suspension. In Seidenbergs case well, look at the play. Its a loose puck. Both players have a right to engage physically in chasing it. Seidenberg is clearly attempting to deliver a check to Toews shoulder. It ends up being from behind, hence the penalty. But the League isnt suspending for textbook boarding. Its mandate is punishing irresponsibility. Its eradicating malice. Look again: Via Pete Blackburn Do you see any malice? Do you just see a hockey hit gone bad? source: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/nhl-gets-it-right-with-no-hearing-for-seidenberg-on-jonathan-toews-hit-163034029.html
