Fantasy: Point-per-game scorers rising in 2014-15 – Yahoo Sports

Since beating Montreal 5-0 at the Bell Centre a few weeks ago, the Blackhawks have gone 10-3-0 and look like worldbeaters. Now the Habs return to the United Center at 8:30 p.m. ET on Friday to try and tame the beast they helped awaken. To do so they will have to break out of a funk that has left them 1-3-1 in their last five games and prone to serious penalty issues. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Wild and Anaheim Ducks square off in St. Paul at 8 p.m. in a battle of depleted bluelines. Anaheim is missing Francois Beauchemin , Eric Brewer and Ben Lovejoy , meaning half of their defensive corps consists of minor leaguers. On the other side of the rink, Ryan Suter is out for Minny because he has the mumps. Expect a high scoring affair. Blackhawks’ Crawford out 2-to-3 weeks – UPI.com

Somewhere in the middle will be the end result, meaning a fourth season averaging a PPG in his career. Ryan Johansen , C/RW 1.04 PPG YES Analysis: This was the toughest call of the bunch, but he seems to have raised his game to a new level this season after posting 63 points last season. My concern is that he doesn’t have a ton of talent around him in Columbus. However, he’s still been able to record points in 16 of 25 games this season, proving his consistency regardless of who’s on the ice with him. Patric Hornqvist , RW 1.04 PPG NO Analysis: Riding shotgun with either Crosby or Malkin helps, but prior to joining the Penguins, he averaged 0.59 PPG in 363 games. Jumping to 1.00 is a stretch for the full season. Filip Forsberg , C/LW/RW 1.00 PPG NO Analysis: The front-runner for the Calder Trophy has had a fantastic season, but averaging a PPG over a full season is a different story for a 20-year old rookie. Not since Malkin in 2006-07 have we seen a rookie average at least a PPG over a full season (he had 85 in 78 games) and only 34 rookies in NHL history have accomplished the feat (playing in at least 35 games), according to hockey-reference.com. Corey Perry , RW 1.00 PPG YES Analysis: He’s as good as a goal-scorer as you’ll find and should be good for 82-plus points while playing alongside Ryan Getzlaf . Ryan Callahan , RW 1.00 PPG NO Analysis: He’s off to the best start of his career playing on a line with Stamkos, but he’s never had more than 54 points in a single season. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/fantasy-point-per-game-scorers-rising-2014-15-170000215–nhl.html

3, 2014 at 6:12 PM Comments | License Photo Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford is expected to miss the next 2-to-3 weeks after injuring his left foot while attending a concert. Crawford told reporters Wednesday that he took an awkward step while exiting the show. The 2013 Stanley Cup champion backstop was spotted wearing a walking boot during the interview. Antti Raanta, who has made just three starts so far this season, will take over as the Blackhawks’ No. 1 goaltender in Crawford’s absence. Chicago recalled Scott Darling from Rockford of the American Hockey League Tuesday to serve as the backup. Crawford currently ranks third in the NHL with a 1.87 goals-against average and has compiled a 12-5-1 record with a .929 save percentage over 18 starts this season. Raanta is 1-2-0 with a 2.03 GAA in his limited action. [SportsNetwork.com] source: http://www.upi.com/Sports_News/2014/12/03/Blackhawks-Crawford-out-2-to-3-weeks/8811417639481/
