Brodeur set to make Blues debut in Nashville

And when asked about the differences between being in Chicago and the New York Rangers , Brad Richards stated the extreme obvious. A nine-year deal going to New York is a lot different than a one year deal coming to a team thats won two (Stanley) Cups, Richards said after Chicago defeated Los Angeles 4-1 at Staples Center to stake its claim as the team to beat in the Western Conference. I was fortunate to be picky in the summer and find a good fit. Thats what I did, so here we are. OK Brad, we get it. The expectation level in Chicago for you is low. Your name is not Patrick Kane . Its not Jonathan Toews. Its not Duncan Keith players who the Blackhawks expect to produce at massively large amounts. But on a one-year contract for $2 million, Richards gives the Blackhawks a coveted second-line center which pretty much has become the most important position in hockey. And he has rewarded Chicago by giving them high-end value at the position. (We) can be dangerous because you want to find chemistry throughout the lineup and consistent production throughout the lineup, linemate Kris Versteeg said When you have every line contributing everyone is contributing in their own way and its made for some really fun hockey for us and some good hockey. You can surmise any theory as to why the Blackhawks lost to the Kings in the Western Conference Final last year. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/brad-richards-second-line-value-turns-blackhawks-into-league-s-top-team-050702883.html

He began skating with the Blues on Friday. The future Hall of Famer will try to help St. Louis (16-7-2) bounce back from its first regulation loss in six games. Jake Allen was in net for a 4-1 defeat in Chicago on Wednesday that featured three Blackhawks goals in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the third period. The Blues were 4-0-1 before that defeat and had taken a season high-tying three in a row on the road. St. Louis’ attempt to get back into the win column will come against a Nashville team that’s won six straight at home and is 10-1-1 there this season. The Blues, who split two home matchups with the Predators in November, are seeking a seventh consecutive victory in Nashville. They outscored the Predators by a combined 12-3 in last season’s three visits, but Nashville (16-6-2) has appeared far more competitive in its first campaign under Peter Laviolette. It had won a season-high four in a row – despite scoring a combined three goals in the final two victories – before a 2-1 loss at Carolina on Tuesday. Mike Ribeiro tallied his second goal in as many games with 4:46 remaining, but the Predators couldn’t find the equalizer despite outshooting the Hurricanes 15-6 in the final period. “There weren’t a lot of Grade-A opportunities for us. source: http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nhl/brodeur-set-to-make-blues-debut-in-nashville/ar-BBgjNTV?srcref=rss

Crawford told reporters Wednesday that he took an awkward step while exiting the show. The 2013 Stanley Cup champion backstop was spotted wearing a walking boot during the interview. Antti Raanta, who has made just three starts so far this season, will take over as the Blackhawks’ No. 1 goaltender in Crawford’s absence. Chicago recalled Scott Darling from Rockford of the American Hockey League Tuesday to serve as the backup. Crawford currently ranks third in the NHL with a 1.87 goals-against average and has compiled a 12-5-1 record with a .929 save percentage over 18 starts this season.
