Anders Lindback hasntplayed well as a backup goaltender for the Dallas Stars with an .861 save percentage and a 4.63 goals against average. Dallas places A.Lindback on waivers. Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) December 03, 2014 Bovada has dropped the Bruins odds to win the Stanley Cup from 10/1 to 11/1. The Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins are co-favorites at 15/2. The Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers have the worst odds at 300/1. Last season, the Colorado Avalanche won despite lackluster puck-possession numbers. The advanced stats community predicted a regression for Colorado and to this point, they have been correct as the Avs sit at the bottom of the Central Division with 23 points. The 2014-15 version of the Avalanche are the Calgary Flames. The Flames have the second-worst Corsi-for percentage at even strength (43.83), which means they are consistently out-shot. Calgarys average of 24.43 unblocked shot attempts per game is the second-lowest in the league. Despite these numbers, Calgary is 16-8-2 and three points ahead of the Los Angeles Kings for the third playoff spot from the Pacific Division. source: http://nesn.com/2014/12/nhl-notes-blues-martin-brodeur-signing-a-mistake-johnny-boychuk-placed-on-ir/

Blackhawks-Ducks Preview – Yahoo Sports

”We got some turnovers and capitalized early, and were able to shut the game down.” Jonathan Quick, who hasn’t played since struggling against the Stars last Saturday, is expected to return in net against the Blackhawks. He’s given up five goals in each of his last two road games, but he’s 9-0-1 with a 1.18 GAA in his past 10 at home. The defending Stanley Cup champions have been outstanding at Staples Center, outscoring opponents 36-15 while going 10-1-1 in their last 12 games there. They’ve also allowed a league-low 1.46 goals per game at home. Chicago figures to challenge that mark, as it ranks among the league leaders with 3.08 goals per game on the road following Friday’s 4-1 win at Anaheim. The Blackhawks (14-8-1) have totaled 25 goals while winning five of six overall. “We’ve got one more game left (on the trip) and we’ll be able to go home for a few days and relax,” Patrick Kane, who had two goals, told the team’s official website. “Might as well finish on a strong note.” Kane has heated up with six goals and seven assists in his past seven games. He had two goals and eight assists over the last four games of last season’s memorable conference finals versus Los Angeles. Jonathan Toews has six goals and nine assists in his last 10 regular-season games against the Kings. He’s scored six of his 10 goals away from home, including three on this six-game trip. Chicago had at least one power-play goal in six straight games before going 0 for 5 Friday. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/blackhawks-kings-preview-014301055–nhl.html

Blackhawks-Kings Preview – Yahoo Sports

It isn’t the most ideal situation for any club trying to keep pace in a competitive division, but Chicago (13-8-1) has been rolling since the trip began Nov. 20. The Blackhawks had beaten Calgary and Edmonton before a 3-2 victory at Colorado on Wednesday. Jonathan Toews , Andrew Sharp and Brian Bickell scored, while Patrick Kane also pitched in with his first three-assist night since Dec. 8, 2013. Two of the three goals came on the power play, making it six straight games in which Chicago has scored with the advantage after netting two in its previous five. “We’ve been pleased and happy with it,” coach Joel Quenneville said of his power-play unit, which ranks among league leaders with 19 goals. “Two big goals got the momentum back on our side. What a hockey game that was, anybody’s hockey game.” The Blackhawks’ lone loss on the swing came at Vancouver on Sunday. The circus trip has proved successful for them in years past. They went 6-1 last season to improve to 22-11-4 since Toews and Kane entered the NHL in 2007. “That was a really big win for us,” said Corey Crawford, who made 27 saves for his 10th win. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/blackhawks-ducks-preview-212630066–nhl.html
