Martin Brodeur signs with Blues, may play this week | New York Post

Chicago regained its two-goal margin at 8:14 of the second on a rush in which four players touched the puck in the Kings end. Richards converted Michal Rozsival’s pass at the left of the net for his sixth goal and third in two games. Richards failed to score a goal for the New York Rangers during last season’s Stanley Cup finals. FOX SPORTS DAILY SUBSCRIBE Carcillo opened the scoring at 1:52 of the first, batting in his own rebound after the Kings won a faceoff in their zone and turned over the puck. Just 28 seconds after serving Crawford’s tripping penalty, Kris Versteeg took the puck away from Quick and Matt Greene behind the net and found Richards at the left of the crease for a one-timer that beat Quick with 2:01 left in the first. They took it to us from the drop of the puck, and that’s when you need your experience to come through.” Shaw made it 2-0 at 13:30 of the first, redirecting the puck past Andersen’s left leg from the low slot after Duncan Keith set him up from the left circle. By then, Chicago had an 11-1 shot advantage, and Boudreau burned his only timeout. The Blackhawks didn’t get a shot on net the rest of the period, and Anaheim got on the board with Lindholm’s goal 3:11 before intermission. He batted in a rebound of Patrick Maroon’s 50-foot slap shot off Crawford’s mask, just seconds after Kesler received a solid open-ice hit from Niklas Hjalmarsson that knocked him backward and onto the ice. “We obviously weren’t able to sustain it after that,” Boudreau said. “They obviously said between periods that they’re not going to allow it. They came out flying and put us on our heels right off the bat, and I don’t think that helped.” Kane restored the Blackhawks’ two-goal margin at 10:36 of the second with a one-timer from the low slot after Kris Versteeg made a between-the-legs pass to him from behind the net. Kane has scored a goal in five of his last seven games, including two game-winners. “Versteeg’s been real good. He was like the player we envisioned him to be this year,” coach Joel Quenneville said. source:

Selected in the first round of the 1990 NHL draft, Brodeur helped the Devils to three Stanley Cups posting a record 688 career wins and 124 shutouts in 21 seasons in New Jersey. In international competition, he won two Olympic gold medals for Canada in 2002 and 2010 Winter Games. source:

Cody McCormick fully participated in Tuesdays morning skate as if he would be playing, just as coach Ted Nolan said he would Monday. Apparently, the medical staff wasnt quite ready to clear him. McCormick was out again, missing his fourth game while going through the NHLs concussion protocol. Late Tuesday, the Sabres recalled Tim Schaller from Rochester and placed McCormick on injured reserve. Drew Stafford also sat out for the second straight game. We have to look at it, and hes still a little bit away, Nolan said of McCormick. That decision is based on 100 percent clearance. Not 99.9 percent. Not almost. This is one of those injuries you dont want to fool around with. … source:
