The Philadelphia Flyers haven

They enter Friday’s game against Anaheim with seven wins in their past 10 games as they continue their West Coast road trip. The Ducks, meanwhile, are riding a three-game winning streak into a matchup of two of the best teams in the NHL. Pick: Ducks 4, Blackhawks 3 New York Islanders at Washington Capitals , 5 p.m. ET No team in the NHL is hotter right now than the Islanders. They’re 16-6-0 overall, 10-1-0 in their past 11 games, and have won five in a row heading into Friday. These two teams just met Wednesday night with the Islanders picking up an overtime win thanks to a John Tavares goal, running the Islanders’ record to 7-0 this season in games that are decided in overtime or the shootout. There is probably a little bit of luck on their side when it comes to those games, but this team is for real and looks like a real threat in the Metropolitan Division. That said, this current hot streak is going to eventually end at some point. Pick: Capitals 4, Islanders 2 Minnesota Wild at Dallas Stars , 8:30 p.m. ET The Stars are trying to work their way back into the playoff race after a disappointing start to the season — a start that included a seven-game losing streak at one point — and finally seem to be playing close to the level that many expected them to be at this season. source: http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24845386/nhl-daily-picks-flyers-look-to-get-back-on-track-against-rangers

Vancouver Canucks (1978) A quick note to those who expected to see this at the bottom of the ranking: Youre completely, hopelessly wrong. It does justice to the team colors, its memorable, its stark and its not some boring recolored version of their other jerseys. VIVA LA FLYING V. The joyous green of the North Star years becomes black as the Stars arrive in Texas. I always saw this as symbolic mourning over leaving the State of Hockey. Great jersey, great logo. Dallas an Unpleasant Surprise | Valley News

A young, unproven defense hasnt helped, so Nill changed up his blue-line by trading veteran Sergei Gonchar to Montreal for forward Travis Moen and Brenden Dillon to San Jose for Jason Demers. Kevin Connauton was claimed off waivers by the Columbus Blue Jackets, and call-up John Klingberg (three goals and five assists in 10 games) has been better than advertised. Up front, the Stars are without winger Valeri Nichushkin until March after he had hip surgery. And Hemsky still hasnt panned out with just a goal and five assists in 23 games. Weve had a lot of guys on our team (who) just havent clicked, Nill said. The opposite is true for the Predators, whose 34 points through 23 games were tied for tops in the league pending the Lightnings game Monday night at the New York Rangers. Nashville has gotten superb goaltending from Pekka Rinne, who leads all starters with a 1.82 GAA and .933 save percentage. Theres no question that psychologically you probably play a little bit different with Pekka in net than we did last year for 51 games that he wasnt there, GM David Poile said. Rinne missed much of last season with a hip injury and an infection. He returned for the end of 2013-14 and starred for Finland at the world championships. The Predators are back in contention under new coach Peter Laviolette thanks in large part to some new additions. Twenty-year-old Filip Forsberg is Nashvilles leading scorer, and his linemates free-agent signee Mike Ribeiro and trade acquisition James Neal have produced plenty, as well. source: http://www.vnews.com/sports/14626505-95/dallas-an-unpleasant-surprise

Ranking every black NHL jersey ever on Black Friday | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports

Load More LOS ANGELES (AP) — Brad Richards scored two goals, and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 on Saturday night. In a matchup of teams that both won two of the last five Stanley Cup titles, Daniel Carcillo added a goal, and Brandon Saad scored into an empty net with 1:49 remaining. Corey Crawford made 19 saves for the Blackhawks, who went 5-1 on their road trip. Jordan Nolan scored, and Jonathan Quick stopped 21 shots for Los Angeles. It was the first meeting between the teams since the Western Conference finals, won in seven games by the eventual Cup champion Kings. Trailing 2-0, the Kings got on the board at 5:53 of the second period when defenseman Jake Muzzin’s slap shot from the left point hit the shaft of Nolan’s stick and fluttered between Crawford’s pads. It was the first goal in 14 games this season for Nolan, who would have been a healthy scratch if not for Marian Gaborik’s upper-body injury. Chicago regained its two-goal margin at 8:14 of the second on a rush in which four players touched the puck in the Kings end. Richards converted Michal Rozsival’s pass at the left of the net for his sixth goal and third in two games. Richards failed to score a goal for the New York Rangers during last season’s Stanley Cup finals. Carcillo opened the scoring at 1:52 of the first, batting in his own rebound after the Kings won a faceoff in their zone and turned over the puck. Just 28 seconds after serving Crawford’s tripping penalty, Kris Versteeg took the puck away from Quick and Matt Greene behind the net and found Richards at the left of the crease for a one-timer that beat Quick with 2:01 left in the first. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/brad-richards-2-goals-lead-blackhawks-over-kings-054426389–nhl.html
