ET, NHL Network The Habs have been rolling once again with eight wins in their past nine games. The Rangers, meanwhile, have been scuffling over their past 10 with a 3-3-4 record. The Habs will look to take advantage of the reeling Rangers — off since Wednesday after their game Friday in Buffalo was postponed — as they try to extend their lead on the rest of the league. This is the second meeting between last season’s Eastern Conference finalists. Montreal won the first tilt 3-1. Pick: Canadiens 3, Rangers 2 Arizona Coyotes at Anaheim Ducks , 8 p.m. ET The Ducks are still clinging to the top spot in the Pacific and will meet a Coyotes team that earned a hard-fought win in the first two meetings between these two clubs. After an ugly start, the Coyotes have at least been giving themselves a chance recently. The goaltending situation in Arizona remains shaky, but the Coyotes have enough offensively to give their opponent fits. Still, the Ducks are getting healthier and continue to be one of the league’s toughest teams to take two points from. Pick: Ducks 4, Coyotes 2 Three stars 1. source: http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24833464/nhl-daily-picks-is-there-still-heat-between-blackhawks-canucks

It also marks the first game between St. Louis and Winnipeg since March 17, 2014, a game that chaotically ended with a line brawl and last-second goal that was taken away after initially being awarded. Who knows how the memories of that contest might come back to impact the actions of those involved Sunday afternoon? Meanwhile, arguably the biggest matchup of the night gets the NHL Network treatment as the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens meet at Madison Square Garden. The rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference Finals should feature the usual strong goaltending from Henrik Lundqvist and Carey Price , so it’ll be up to the offenses to provide some fireworks. Price has been rolling lately, saving 64 of 65 shots over the past two games against St. Louis and Boston. Lundvquist hasn’t been quite as strong, though the Rangers shut out the Flyers , 2-0, in their last game with Cam Talbot in goal. The final two games of the night see the Arizona Coyotes face the Anaheim Ducks and the Chicago Blackhawks visit the Vancouver Canucks . The ‘Hawks might be vulnerable on the second night of a back-to-back, but they’ve won five of six after lighting up the Oilers in a 7-1 win on Saturday and appear to be rounding into form. The Ducks meet Arizona looking to shake their recent streak of overtime games. Seven of the team’s past eight games have gone to extra time, with a 2-1-5 record to show for it. source: http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2014/11/23/7269739/2014-nhl-schedule-rangers-canadiens

Blackhawks D Trevor van Riemsdyk out 3-4 months with patella fracture – CBSSports.com

Trevor van Riemsdyk will miss three to four months after fracturing his left patella. (USATSI)

”I’ve just been working on my game and these guys here, to their credit, have probably the best six around the league,” said Clendening, a second-round pick in the 2011 draft who could see some time at the point on Chicago’s second power-play unit. ”So it’s definitely been a little bit of a waiting game, but again, bad bounce for a guy and hopefully I can just fill in and help them not miss a beat.” Quenneville could slot Clendening into van Riemdsyk’s spot, or he might tinker with his top four defensemen to spread out his most reliable players. Crawford, for one, doesn’t seem too worried about the situation. Check out the best photos from the best fights in the NHL. ”That was tough for Riems. I mean he was playing so well,” Crawford said. ”Obviously, it must be pretty frustrating for him; for us, too, to lose a guy like that. But Clendending, he’s a really skilled defenseman, and he moves the puck well. I’m sure he’ll do fine when he gets his chance, too.” The Blackhawks also are playing without forward Patrick Sharp , who had a team-high 34 goals last season and is out with a lower-body injury. The team said Sharp would miss three to four weeks after he was hurt Nov. source: http://www.foxsports.com/nhl/story/blackhawks-eye-consistency-on-circus-trip-111914

NHL schedule 2014: Rangers-Canadiens highlights Sunday slate – SBNation.com

(USATSI) The Chicago Blackhawks announced that rookie defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk will be sidelined three to four months with a fractured left patella. The 23-year-old blueliner was injured when taking a shot off the left knee Sunday against the Dallas Stars . He will undergo surgery Thursday to repair the fracture. It’s bad news for the Blackhawks, but worse for van Riemsdyk who had really looked to be coming into his own in his first NHL season. The younger brother of Toronto Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk was signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of New Hampshire last offseason. In 18 games this season, van Riemsdyk had one assist, but appeared to have gained the trust of the often fickle Blackhawks coaching staff. He averaged 13:32 a night while occupying a spot on Chicago’s third defensive pairing. The timing of the injury is rather unfortunate for the Blackhawks rookie. It was a bit of a surprise that the undrafted van Riemsdyk had made the opening night roster at all and even more surprising that he stuck around. His play warranted it, however. source: http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24821022/blackhawks-d-trevor-van-riemsdyk-out-3-4-months-with-patella-fracture
