Blackhawks Game Notes For Saturday @ Edmonton | WGN-TV

Hansen wired a shot off a face off earlier in the period that Crawford saved before the Blackhawks goalie snagged Vrbata’s deflection with his glove. The Canucks had a great chance to restore the lead on a power play of their own later in the period, but Crawford robbed Henrik Sedin with the heel of his skate after taking a pass at the side of the net from Daniel Sedin. Vancouver opened the scoring at 13:13 of the first period on the power play when Dorsett’s pass off the rush glanced off Horvat’s stick to Hansen, who buried his sixth of the season and third in as many games over Crawford’s blocker. The assist was Horvat’s first in the NHL after scoring his first goal in Thursday’s 4-3 shootout loss to the Anaheim Ducks. NOTES: Henrik Sedin played his 1,000th game with Vancouver in March. … Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis sat out with a lower-body injury after getting hurt on Thursday. … Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows missed his second straight game with an upper-body injury. … source: http://www.foxsports.com/nhl/story/jannik-hansen-tallies-first-hat-trick-leads-vancouver-canucks-over-chicago-blackhawks-112414

Bouwmeester hadn’t missed a game in TEN YEARS. That is the very definition of consistency from a rather unsuspecting player. That must be a requirement for the Iron Man in the NHL, since Anaheim’s Andrew Cogliano is now the NHL’s Iron Man leader. 2. If not for Dustin Tokarski , the Canadiens could’ve been blown out of Madison Square Garden by an even worse margin. On a night when five different Rangers scored and the Canadiens failed to put up much of a fight against Henrik Lundqvist , Montreal’s netminder happened to be their best player. 3. Bo Horvat probably belongs in the NHL already. The young rookie carved out an important niche for himself on Sunday for the Canucks, leading all players in the faceoff dot. Sure, it’s not the glitziest skill. source: http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2014/11/24/7273811/2014-nhl-scores-rangers-canadiens-canucks-blackhawks

Kane’s 28 points against the Oilers since the start of the 2009-10 season are his second-most against any opponent, trailing only his 29 against Dallas. He has seven goals and 14 assists during a 12-game point streak versus the Oilers. The Blackhawks have totaled 19 goals during their four-game win streak in the series and have won eight of 10 in Edmonton. The Oilers are 0-4-1 in their last five contests and 0-5-1 at home since Oct. 29. Edmonton was outshot 19-8 in a pivotal second period Friday in a 2-0 loss to visiting New Jersey. The Devils scored both of their goals in a 4:28 span. “The problem with our group right now is that we can’t seem to get the full 60 (minutes), and you need the full 60,” coach Dallas Eakins said. The Oilers will seek to avoid a season-high sixth consecutive defeat and their first seven-game home losing streak since Jan. 18-Feb. 13, 2011. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/blackhawks-oilers-preview-073127776–nhl.html

NHL scores 2014: Canucks shut down Blackhawks, Rangers rout Canadiens – SBNation.com

This is the second meeting between last season’s Eastern Conference finalists. Montreal won the first tilt 3-1. Pick: Canadiens 3, Rangers 2 Arizona Coyotes at Anaheim Ducks , 8 p.m. ET The Ducks are still clinging to the top spot in the Pacific and will meet a Coyotes team that earned a hard-fought win in the first two meetings between these two clubs. After an ugly start, the Coyotes have at least been giving themselves a chance recently. The goaltending situation in Arizona remains shaky, but the Coyotes have enough offensively to give their opponent fits. Still, the Ducks are getting healthier and continue to be one of the league’s toughest teams to take two points from. Pick: Ducks 4, Coyotes 2 Three stars 1. Max Pacioretty , Montreal Canadiens: Pacioretty already has 10 goals this season and looks to be a goal-scoring machine again for the Habs. He has four goals over his past six games and in a battle of two fast teams, players like Pacioretty who combine power with that speed should excel. 2. source: http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24833464/nhl-daily-picks-is-there-still-heat-between-blackhawks-canucks
