He signed a one-year, $2 million free-agent deal with Chicago last July and was envisioned as a No. 2 center, but has start slowly and averaged just under 13 minutes of ice time entering Sunday’s game. The Blackhawks start a six-game road trip on Thursday in Calgary and don’t play again at the United Center until Dec. 3. The game was tied 2-2 following a wide-open first period. Keith opened the scoring on the Blackhawks’ first shot when he completed a 2-on-1 break with Patrick Kane at 1:18 into the game. McKenzie and Horcoff then connected 39 seconds apart to put Dallas ahead 2-1. McKenzie’s goal at 4:49 was a perfect tip-in from the left side of the net, and set up by Erik Cole’s pinpoint cross-ice pass through Seabrook’s legs. Horcoff was wide open on the left side when he fired in a rebound of Vernon Fiddler’s shot from the right circle. Seabrook tied it 2-2 during a power play with 8:02 left in the period when his drive from the blue line deflected off Dallas’ Jamie Benn. The pace slowed in the scoreless second period. Kane swept in a rising shot from the low edge of the right circle at 4:49 of the third to put Chicago ahead 3-2. source: http://www.startribune.com/sports/wild/282889621.html

Johan Franzen, Tomas Tatar lift Red Wings over Blackhawks | FOX Sports

A smattering of vocal Blackhawks fans were in the stands but they had little to cheer after Detroit converted a pair of takeaways to take the lead for good. “We served up a second pizza,” Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said of the first two goals his team allowed. “The first goal was a tough play and the second goal was a tough play.” Check out the best photos from the best fights in the NHL. Patrick Kane had a giveaway to set up Franzen’s game-winner. “It’s unforgiveable to make a turnover that bad,” he said. “Pretty sloppy game. A lot of turnovers, a lot of giveaways.” Detroit hadn’t played since Sunday and seemed much fresher in the second period. That was fine with Red Wings coach Mike Babcock. “It’s always nice to look fast against a good opponent,” he said. “I thought we did a real good job in the second period to tilt the rink a little bit. “I like us to play fast; I like us to play in attack mode.” Luke Glendening put Detroit on the board six minutes in when he backhanded a rebound of Drew Miller’s shot past Corey Crawford , who finished with 32 saves. Kane scored Chicago’s lone goal during a power play later in the first. source: http://www.foxsports.com/nhl/story/johan-franzen-tomas-tatar-lift-red-wings-over-blackhawks-111414

A lot of work in the gym. Stuff away from the rink, just making sure Im resting and not doing too much, promote healing better. Carcillo was a bit of a surprise to join Chicagos roster in October but earned a shot. He hoped to prove that hes more than a physical presence on the ice, but the injury brought a scare that seemed to jeopardize those odds. Returning to the ice was a welcomed sign, both for the Blackhawks and Carcillo. Im not happy about (the injury), but no point in looking back on it now, Carcillo said. Youve got to move forward, and (Ive) already forgotten about it. Chicago has nine days before it embarks on the annual circus trip through the Western Conference. Between now and Nov. 20, three games remain, two of which are at home. Could Carcillo return to the lineup before then? Maybe, well see if he gets in before the long trip or not, Quenneville said. For sure on the trip. Stamkos, league-leading Lightning a tough task The Blackhawks have been familiar with a spot atop the standings, ever since their revival. But Chicago (8-6-1) has struggled with inconsistent play lately. source: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/11/11/blackhawks-notes-van-riemsdyk-has-milestone-goal-stripped/

Stars-Blackhawks Preview – Yahoo Sports

“It’s unacceptable when you make turnovers like that,” said Patrick Kane, who scored for just the second time in 12 games and also had a turnover that led to the game-winning goal. “I think we all have to take ownership for it. Accept it. Make sure we fix the problem.” Both the Blackhawks and Stars rank among the NHL’s worst in giveaways. Chicago has turned the puck over 8.71 per game, and Dallas is at 9.88. The Red Wings also outshot Chicago 37-26, becoming just the third team to outshoot the Blackhawks this season. “I hope we’re not happy or satisfied that we’re either not winning or giving them goals carelessly, or serving them up the way we did tonight,” Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. Friday’s loss spoiled Chicago’s chance for its first three-game win streak of the season. The Blackhawks have not gone this long without a three-game win streak to open a season since 2006-07, when it took them 24 games. Dallas (6-7-4) has also failed to string together three straight this season, squandering an opportunity to do so Saturday in a 2-1 defeat to Minnesota. Kari Lehtonen followed his first shutout of the season Thursday by allowing two goals on 22 shots. The 20 saves marked a season-low for the 11-year veteran. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/stars-blackhawks-preview-020417215–nhl.html
