The Blackhawks left goalie Corey Crawford at home for this two-game road swing because of an upper body injury, and Raanta got his second straight start. The Predators outshot Chicago early with a flurry of action in front of Raanta. But Smith flipped a wrister over Rinnes outstretched leg off a rebound at 12:21 for a 1-0 lead for the Blackhawks. Nashville failed to take advantage of a power play when Marcus Kruger went to the box for high-sticking Colin Wilson, but defenseman Seth Jones found Neal with a nice cross-ice pass. Neal beat Raanta stick-side, tying it 1-1 in the final minute of the period. Chicago got its first man advantage at 13:07 of the second, and the Blackhawks took turns shooting at Rinne. He stopped drives from Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, and a slap shot from Patrick Sharp in killing the penalty. The Predators broke the tie at 16:12 of the second when the puck squirted over to Neal just inside the left circle near the slot, and his slap shot beat Raantas glove. Neal completed his hat trick at 1:52 of the third from the side on a wrister. NOTES: Neals previous hat trick was Dec. 29, 2013, against Carolina while he was with the Penguins. It was Nashvilles first hat trick at home since Sergei Kostitsyn had one on Jan. source: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/10/23/predators-edge-blackhawks-3-2/

Pekka Rinne made 32 saves in the win. No. 3 Star: Henrik Zetterberg , Detroit Red Wings The captain was awesome in the third period: Scoring his third of the season; working hard to set up Pavel Datsyuk , who set up Niklas Kronwall for the game-tying goal; and forcing a turnover that led to Justin Abdelkader ‘s game-winner against the Pittsburgh Penguins , 4-3. Honorable Mention: Darcy Kuemper made 21 saves for his third shutout in four starts, as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Arizona Coyotes , 2-0. Jared Spurgeon had two assists. Jonas Hiller made 16 saves and Sean Monahan had two goals as the Calgary Flames blasted the Carolina Hurricanes , 5-0. Crazy game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and San Jose Sharks , as an apparent goal by Ryan Johansen which would have given him a hat trick was waved off for goalie interference, and Mark Letestu scored his second of the game with 21 seconds left to give the Jackets a 5-4 win. Joe Pavelski scored twice for the Sharks. Ryan Miller made 31 saves against his former team as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the St. Louis Blues, 4-1. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/nhl-three-stars–neal-tricks-blackhawks–quick-sets-record-061035003.html

NHL Three Stars: Neal tricks Blackhawks; Quick sets record | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports

Philly and Dallas need to get their defenses in order. Good Lord, what a game in Big D. That’s not a compliment; the Stars and Flyers played hot potato with the lead all night while playing some truly horrendous defense. The Stars get a slight pass because they were playing with five defensemen, but even that’s no excuse for blowing a 4-2 lead in the third period. On one hand, all-out offensive games like this are pretty exciting. On the other hand, it’s a big reason why these two clubs are going to be fighting for their respective conference’s wild card berths instead of one of the top seeds. Impact Moment I bet some Avs fan is reading this and thinking that using the term “embarrassing” up there was a bit harsh. Well, I humbly request you watch this P.K. Subban goal again. Really look at it, specifically the defensemen falling down and failing to cover the wide open Norris Trophy winner with the puck two feet in front of the net. Yeah. source: http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2014/10/19/7001803/nhl-scores-stamkos-crosby-seguin-penguins-lightning-stars
