28 after suffering a concussion. That’s one reason the Rangers’ brass wants Duclair to go through a healthy QMJHL season. The other is that the Remparts, as the host team for the Memorial Cup, have an automatic berth into junior hockey’s championship tournament and the Rangers want him to go through that experience. “Right now, we’re trying to get a good read on him,” coach Alain Vigneault said. “His [injury] at the end of last year, we feel it’s going to be beneficial for him to spend a little bit more time here with us, conditioning-wise and understanding what it is to be a pro athlete. “That being said, he’s like everyone else right now, he’s getting evaluated,” Vigneault added. “Depending on what he does, we’ll see what happens.” Duclair believes he’s improved dramatically from his first training camp with the Rangers. “I was only here for a week,” Duclair said. “I had a little bit of a tough time adjusting to the pace. This year, I’ve become more comfortable.” BRIEFS: Center Derek Stepan, sidelined four to six weeks after breaking his left fibula Wednesday, said he felt fortunate not to need surgery. Blackhawks vs. Red Wings final score: Chicago loses second preseason game, 3-2 – Yahoo Sports

Additionally, he also finished the night as the team’s top faceoff man, winning 56 percent of his draws. “Dave Bolland played Dave Bolland hockey,” Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said. “He was solid. He’s very smart defensively and, like you said, he contributed a power play goal. I like his game, and for his first game with the Panthers, we really liked him.” A Stanley Cup champion with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013, Bolland was one of several veteran players brought in by general manager Dale Tallon during the offseason to add leadership and championship experience to the locker room. “It brings experience,” Bolland said of the team’s veteran additions. “When I was younger I had guys like Marty Lapointe, guys to ask and help you along the way. I know if there are any questions I can always help them out. Experience takes you a long way when you get in those dirty games.” After missing 56 games last season with a torn tendon in his left ankle, Bolland is eager to ditch his injury-prone tag and put his recent underwhelming seasons behind him as he begins the next chapter of his career in South Florida. “It was tough, it was one of those injuries where you don’t know if you’re going to come back or what’s going to happen,” Bolland said of his injury last season. source: http://www.foxsports.com/florida/story/florida-panthers-dave-bolland-impresses-092514

We couldn’t watch this game on TV, but let’s just assume it wasn’t a keeper. The Chicago Blackhawks couldn’t muster another comeback in their second preseason game, a 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night at Joe Louis Arena. We’ll assume it wasn’t a great game to watch, since nobody broadcasted it and we were left with a bizarre combination of radio coverage and tweets to go by. Bryan Bickell and Garrett Ross scored the only goals of the evening for Chicago, both in the third period, but they came after the Red Wings had already extended a pair of two-goal leads. Tomas Tatar scored the first goal of the game on a deflection late in the first period, while Tomas Nosek added the initial insurance goal less than a minute into the third period. Bickell’s goal put the game back into question for a few minutes, until Andrej Nestrasil effectively put things away with the third goal of the night. Ross cut the lead to one inside the final minute, but a last-ditch effort to tie the game fell short. Following a late start due to the Blackhawks arriving to the arena late, the team clearly started off slow and mustered just five shots in the first 20 minutes. Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard rarely got challenged early on, and ended up playing the entire game while saving 26-of-28 shots on goal. Antti Raanta was similar effective for Chicago over the first half of the game, but he saw nearly as many shots in 30 minutes as Howard saw all night. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/blackhawks-vs-red-wings-final-023840825.html
