Time to crown NHL award winners as playoffs loom

Not bad company.. But the front-runner for this award is Montreal’s Brandon Gallagher.. He has 13 goals, 24 points and has outplayed rookie teammate Alex Galchenyuk to stand as the class of the crop and be one of the few to win a major award in his first season.. —– Jack Adams Trophy (top coach): How do you pick the top coach?. Is it the one leading the team with the best record?. Well then, come on down Chicago’s Joel Quenneville.. Or is it the one who’s pulled off a nice professional comeback?. If so, how about Bruce Boudreau?. But this year’s pick comes from north of the border in Montreal’s Michel Therrien.. The fabled Canadiens finished last in the Eastern Conference last season.. Therrien returned to the team that gave him his first NHL job a decade ago and quickly turned a 31-35-16 team from a year ago into the Northeast Division leaders. source: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/time-crown-nhl-award-winners-213425244–nhl.html

Oklahoma City Blazers: Win vs. Blackhawks sparked Yann Danis’ turnaround

Danis surrendered two goals.. It was his first NHL win in three years.. Collecting a win against the NHL’s best team sparked Danis, who saw little time in net during his two months with Edmonton and wasn’t as sharp early in the season with the Barons.. “That game against Chicago gave me a lot of confidence,” Danis said.. “Coming back here, I felt really good.” Since he returned from Edmonton, Danis has looked like the player who last season was named the American Hockey League Goaltender of the Year.. Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the Barons are on the brink of clinching their third consecutive playoff berth.. One key reason Oklahoma City has finished strong is Danis.. He has gone 8-2-3 with a 1.80 goals against average and .929 saves percentage since he returned.. “You sort of get in a zone,” Danis said.. “The puck seems bigger.. You seem to find it quicker.. But it’s not just me. source: http://newsok.com/oklahoma-city-blazers-win-vs.-blackhawks-sparked-yann-danis-turnaround/article/3790181
