Coaches and staff are not feeding me too much information—just the amount of right stuff.. Ultimately, it’s just a matter of me going out and playing.. Good things happen when you’re working hard and creating stuff so I feel good, but I still feel like I got a lot more.. Burns also talked about having fun on the ice, noting it was a term often used by Thornton.. He was having fun in the dressing room as well, razzing a puzzled CSN Bay Area Sharks Insider Kevin Kurz who has never said he doesn’t like the current first-line right wing on the blue line: “Kurzie throws me under the bus…(he) doesn’t like me as a defenseman.” Later, a phone rang among the throng of media, and he quipped “oh, that’s a heavy fine right there.” Still, Niemi was the talk for most of the team.. Thornton said he thinks he is the best in the world, and he should given the turnover in the slot that his goalie had to bail him out for—one of a few bad choices by the captain.. The Sharks net-minder did recently finish second in an anonymous poll of Western Conference coaches by NHL Network.. McLellan probably would have picked his own goalie if the poll had allowed it: He’s been a real good workhorse for us.. There’s been guys in the past that have played 80 of 82 games, so it’s not uncommon for goaltenders to play a lot.. We’re only halfway through what would normally be a regular season.. He looks like he’s got a lot of gas in the tank and is excited about playing.. Still, this was his 21st start in a row and 39th on the season. source: http://www.examiner.com/review/nhl-pacific-division-rivalry-heats-up-between-san-jose-sharks-los-angeles-kings

NHL: Los Angeles 2, Columbus 1

Los Angeles reached 55 points for the season, leaving the Kings tied with San Jose for the No.. 4 seed in the Western Conference.. Vancouver also has 55 points, but the Canucks lead their division and a division title will ensure them one of the top three seeds.. The loss left Columbus in a precarious position in the playoff race, although the Blue Jackets finished the night in the eighth and final post-season position.. Columbus has only a two-point lead over both Dallas and Detroit and both those teams have two more games to play than do the Blue Jackets.. One of the three games left on the Columbus schedule will be at Dallas next Thursday.. Los Angeles took the lead in the first period on a power-play goal from Drew Doughty , but Columbus tied it 12:07 into the second on Dalton Prout’s slap shot.. Clifford also scored on a slap shot less than 2 minutes later for the game-winner.. Jonathan Quick stopped 20 of 21 shots for the victory.. Sergei Bobrovsky made 21 saves for the Blue Jackets. source: http://www.upi.com/Sports_News/2013/04/19/NHL-Los-Angeles-2-Columbus-1/UPI-86121366349760/
