The Colorado Avalanche’s Awful 2-15-3 Road Record Doug Pensinger/Getty Images The Colorado Avalanche are mired in one of the most forgettable seasons in franchise histor, and are a mess in every conceivable way, While the team has been respectable at home—they’ve posted a 10-6-2 record while playing at the Pepsi Center—they’ve been positively abysmal on the road.. A 2-15-3 road record is pathetic, even for a bottom-feeding squad like Colorado.. Drafting a player like Seth Jones or Nathan MacKinnon in June may ease the sting of missing the playoffs again in Denver, but only managing two roads wins is a hard pill to swallow for this young and promising team.. New Jersey’s 10 Points Lost in OT and the Shootout Paul Bereswill/Getty Images The New Jersey Devils are currently in the thick of the playoff hunt in the Eastern Conference, sitting only two points back of the eighth place New York Islanders.. Only six points separate the team from the fifth place Toronto Maple Leafs, and only eight points separate the Devils from the conference-worst Florida Panthers.. In other words, it’s an absolute logjam of a playoff race.. With the lockout shortening the season, every single lost point is amplified.. If New Jersey ends up missing the playoffs, they’ll surely look at the seven shootout loses and three overtime losses and wish for some of those points back.. Sergei Bobrovsky’s Numbers Across the Board Kirk Irwin/Getty Images Sergei Bobrovsky has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2013 NHL season, giving the Columbus Blue Jackets a quality starting netminder for the first time since the first half of the 2008-09 season.. Back then, Steve Mason was tearing it up through his first 30 games or so as a rookie.. Since then Columbus has sported some of the worst goaltending in the league. source:

Blackhawks return to top spot in Super 16

9 11 Anaheim Ducks: Three straight games against the Stars yielded two wins, and a victory against the Kings made it three of four last week.. After a 20-3-3 start, the Ducks are just 6-5-2 in their past 13 games, but have been playing better lately.. 10 12 San Jose Sharks: Their seven-game win streak ended in horrific fashion Sunday as the Stars rallied from a two-goal third-period deficit to win 5-4 in a shootout.. Still, the Sharks look pretty locked into a playoff spot after sitting at 12-10-6 on March 18.. 11 13 St.. Louis Blues: Four straight wins — three on the road last week — have the streaky Blues looking like contenders again.. Maligned goaltender Brian Elliott won three of those games, including a victory Sunday in Detroit in which he stopped all 28 shots he faced.. 12 NR Washington Capitals: They are on fire, sure, but they’re a hard team to gauge in the overall scheme of the NHL.. They are 8-1-1 in their past 10 games, but have beaten just one team in the top eight and have zero regulation wins against top eight teams all season.. Still, wins are wins, and the Caps are winning.. 13 10 Detroit Red Wings: An even split of four games last week left the Red Wings 2-4-0 in their past six and just three points clear of ninth in the West.. They don’t play again until Thursday, and then it’s back-to-back contests with the Sharks and Blackhawks. source:

Predators-Blackhawks Preview

The play of Pekka Rinne is a big reason Chicago has totaled three regulation goals in the last two meetings – just shy of its season average per game – although he was caught out of position on Bickell’s goal.. The loss was the fifth in six games for Nashville (15-16-8), which is in 12th place in the Western Conference and four points back of eighth-place St.. Louis.. “Obviously you know the standings and everything, but you try not to look at it right now,” Rinne said.. “You try to focus on one game at a time.. Now it’s (Sunday) night, and it is not going to get any easier.. We have a pretty big task on our hands if we want to make it and we have to start winning some games.” Getting a win Sunday could be tough given Nashville’s struggles on the road.. The Predators have lost six straight and 12 of 13 away from Nashville.. They haven’t dropped seven consecutive road games since Dec.. 8-Jan.. 11, 2009. source:
